To organise a play street in Barnet you will need to fill out an online form and send it to Barnets Highway Team. Find out more here.

To create a play street you will need to request a road closure application pack from the City of London. To do this you can call their Contact Centre on 020 7332 3553/3554 or fill out an online form here.

To request a play street in Ealing you will need to apply online – you can find out more here or email playstreets@ealing.gov.uk

To see if your street is elgiblie for a play street you will need to email play-streets@royalgreenwich.gov.uk. Alternatively visit here for more information.

    Canonbury East – Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    As part of Islington Council’s people-friendly streets programme and the need for an urgent transport response to COVID-19, Canonbury East is the second people friendly streets neighbourhood in the borough. It has been created to allow more space for people to walk and cross the road safely, use buggies and wheelchairs, and cycle as part of everyday life. The scheme went live on 3 August 2020.

    Canonbury West – Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    Kings Road Xmas Light Car Free Event

    CRP's HSE Programme funded a Xmas Light Car Free Event on Kings Road in partnership with the Cadogan Estates. As part of the event, a 200m section of road was closed to have the Christmas light switch on as well as a market and fireworks.     Coppermill Area – Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    In September 2020, as part of the Coppermill Area Scheme and Quietway 2 (Cycleway 27) scheme, a bus gate (modal filter) was introduced on South Access Road. This means if you’re travelling by motorised vehicle to Low Hall Depot or to South Access recycling centre you will need to travel along Argall Avenue from Lea Bridge Road. The entrance from South Access Road will only be available to people walking or cycling.

    East Greenwich Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    Trial measures to reduce the amount of through-traffic using narrow residential streets in the East Greenwich area will be put in place on 24 September. The project is funded by the Department for Transport’s Active Travel Emergency Fund and should create quieter, safer streets.

    Greenwich West Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    Trial measures to reduce traffic in west Greenwich were implemented in August 2020. Residents living to the west of Greenwich Park, had raised concerns about excessive traffic and dangerous driving in the area. Narrow residential streets that were not designed to accommodate the current high volumes of traffic, along with vehicles driving on footpaths compelled us to take action.

    Streatham Hill Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    To reduce the amount of through traffic it will no longer be possible to drive through the neighbourhood. There will be five closures points that apply to all motor vehicles, except the emergency services. Motor vehicles can drive to the closure points shown on the map below, from one direction or the other, but cannot drive through. Every single property can still be accessed by motor vehicle.

    Tulse Hill Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    As part of Lambeth's Covid-19 response, a low traffic neighbourhood was created in September in the Tulse Hill neighbourhood. Traffic barriers were installed that act as ‘modal filters’ (allowing cyclists and pedestrians to filter through but preventing motor vehicles). The project aims to reduce the number of vehicles cutting through the neighbourhood to make safer residential streets for walking and cycling. Since the implementation, we have been monitoring the scheme and are making ongoing improvements.

    The West Ealing South low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) that introduced in late August 2020 on an experimental basis. The trial ended early in May 2021 due to the decision by Hounslow council to close Swyncombe Avenue. As part of the feedback obtained during the consultation period, residents indicated support for the proposals in and around Dean’s Road and Montague Avenue (W7). Ealing Council invited local people and businesses in and around the area of Dean's Road and Montague Avenue to respond to a consultation on whether they support the reintroduction of the LTN on a permanent basis.
