Gordonbrock Primary School: School Street

Lewisham Council have implemented a School Street for Gordonbrock School, as part of their COVID-19 response, on Amyruth Road. Motor vehicle traffic will be closed at drop-off and pick-up times which makes the road safer and less polluted for children and parents walking, cycling and scooting to school.

The problem with the school street in Amyruth Road is that it means that parents now park in Gordonbrock Road, Brockley Road and Adelaide Avenue to drop off and collect their children. It has not reduced car usage or air pollution. It has made living near the school more dangerous as some driving parents have little or no regard for other road users and pedestrians. There was no consultation with local residents about installing the school street which seems remiss. A big failure all around.
