London Mayor’s Construction Academy 2

The London Mayor’s Construction Academy (MCA) has been set up to help more Londoners train in the skills they need to access construction sector vacancies on the capital’s housing construction sites.  Since its introduction:

• Seven construction training hubs led by stakeholders from further education, higher education and local government have successfully launched programmes of activity to bring together employers, training providers and learners to address the construction skills needs and meet demand by enabling housebuilding employers to fill vacancies. • A review of the MCA Quality Mark is underway to ensure the list of 21 providers awarded the Mark in 2018 continue to reflect the best quality of construction training provision available across London. Other providers wishing to obtain the MCA quality mark will be invited to apply to do so later in the year.
• A £7.2 million capital funding programme for quality-marked providers has been created to ensure that equipment and facilities keep pace with changing technology.

Also building on the above progress, a £1.7 million programme of delivery is in development to expand successful hubs and create new ones in areas not yet served by a hub.
