CRP’s Connect 4 Series: Session 1

January 27, 2022 00:00

Host:  CRP
Category:  Air Quality, Energy, Environment, Freight, Transport & Active Travel, Health & Wellbeing, Place Making
Cost:  Free

This new, interactive event series will bring you exciting topics at 4pm on the last Thursday of each month. Session 1 is on Thursday 27th January, 4pm – 4:45pm, and looks at green deliveries in cities and accessible streets.

CRP, with consultants DSDHA, will be launching brand new guidance: Highways and Footways Accessibility Guidelines. The Guidelines outline recommendations to make fully accessible streets that do not just adhere to minimum standards, but that also make a conscious effort to establish spaces that are generous in design. It has never been more important to consider a wide variety of accessible measures in our built environment. With the Mayor’s commitment to accessibility through strategies such as Inclusive London, the guidance contributes to the wider aims of Vision Zero, Healthy Streets and London’s green economic recovery.

Delivering London will be presenting on their latest initiative, which is all about reducing emissions and congestion through consolidation of parcels deliveries in a dense locker network that respects all users of streets. Through this initiative, Delivering London aim to improve customer choice and deliver green growth to support healthy High Streets.

To complement CRP’s latest study, we will also be hearing from Better Bankside about the Green Logistics Centre. The hub will improve access to street space by co-ordinating deliveries, limiting kerb-side activity and tackling poor air quality. Better Bankside members can redirect bulk deliveries to the centre, which the BID will store on a short-term basis, delivering the quantity needed with an ultra-low or zero-emission vehicle such as an electric van or a cargo bike. The Green Logistics Centre aims to turn weekly deliveries into monthly ones.

The four speakers for Session 1 are:

  1. Jane Wong, Architect, DSDHA
  2. Eleanor Marshall, Project Officer, Cross River Partnership
  3. Noel Shapton, Director, Delivering London
  4. Amandeep Kellay, Sustainable Transport Manager, Better Bankside

This online webinar will be taking place on Microsoft Teams. You will receive a link to join the session in your invitation. There will also be interactive polls, so you can ask questions to presenters.
