On 25th March 2019 a School Street was introduced at St Marks Primary School in Islington to encourage walking and cycling to school. Vehicle movements are restricted along Sussex Way, between Kingsdown Road and Tollington Way, including Whewell Road, Landseer Road and Alexander Road, from Cornwallis Road to Sussex Way. The restrictions occur between 8.20am to 9.10am and 3.15pm to 4pm on weekdays during term-time. The school street aims to improve road safety, accessibility and air quality by encouraging walking, cycling and travelling by public transport to school. Following consultation in November 2018, results showed that 66% of respondents supported the scheme.
