Leytonstone City Trees

Two ‘City Trees’ have been installed in Waltham Forest’s most polluted areas – one at Leytonstone Tube Station and the other on Leytonstone High Road. The ‘city trees’ are large, moss filled towers that also contain a water tank, automatic irrigation system and plant sensors that are all powered using on board solar panels and batteries. The ‘city trees’ have the ability to improve air quality by removing pollutants such as particulate matter and nitrogen oxide, while at the same time producing oxygen – in fact they have the ability to remove as much pollution as 275 trees!
